Selling my rare 1987 Mercedes Benz 500SL HARD and SOFT TOP European model. Current mileage on the odometer reads 156,561 (miles). Vehicle is in excellent running and cosmetic condition, considered to be in 'drivers' condition. Exterior is in great shape, straight panels, fair trim, chrome and moldings. No rust andno accident history. Paint still shines well. It's been repainted and I rate it at a 5.0 out of 10. The interior is also shows well, no major rips, cuts or stains. Carbon fiber trim is found through out the interior. Top does have three rips (see photos for details).
Hard top is included in the sale. Mechanically the car drives great. Both engine and transmission sound and feel strong. A/C blows cold. Lights work and power windows. Only the earliest models came with a " ball style" transfer case shifter as the one you are viewing has. Fiberglass inserts in lieu of doors were standard and a vinyl top and doors were options. The bench seat has been recovered in sourced original NOS vinyl. Professional frame off restoration with body painted off the frame and original pink primer on the original underneath of original solid floor pans.

Originally a Canadian built Vin 64V 15297 it was restored in Canada in 2009 and fitted frame off with a new modern frame and all GM running gear from a C4 Corvette and Pontiac Trans Am. Motor is Stock Vette LT1 along with 4L60 E transmission run to a Transam 10 bolt posi rear and axle with
373 gear ratio. Aluminum Radiator with dual electric fans. Dual Stainless steel custom exhaust. Tubular front A arms and rack and pinion power steering along with 4 wheel power disc brakes to the four Pontiac GM 17" 5 spoke polished aluminum wheels and Michelin tires.
The interior is all original with the exception of the front seats. The driver seat is a 6 way power seat with lumbar support. Head rest are provided but have been removed. They are very comfortable and sturdy. (The original seats will be give with the sale ) A new carpet has been installed and is fresh and clean. A tilt GM steering column has been installed and adds to the driver comfort and adjustment capability.
A modern Kenwood/Alpine stereo Cd player with amp provide great sound and remote control is included. All lights work as well as gauges. The speedo does not work and can be operable with a electric/cable adaptor to be linked to the transmission.
It does have minor chips and 2 small paint imperfections on the lower front of the doors that really is not noticeable. A minor cosmetic correction to bring to satisfaction. The Black paint is flat and deep to eye. It is very durable and has stood the test of time. The canvas convertible top is like new and powers up and down as right as it should.
