The 1964 Triumph TR4 is a fun motoring experience.
The design and performance of the TR-4 made it the perfect British sports car, in fact over 60,000 TRs had been sold in America when this model was manufactured. This one in particular was lovingly restored to better-than-OEM performance by my late Uncle Fred in the 90�s and lovingly maintained.Fred was a pilot in the Navy and fought in Vietnam; later he flew for United Airlines as a captain. I acquired his TR-4, which he named �Emma Peel�, after the British 1960s television series, �The Avengers�. Fred truly enjoyed his TR-4 as he drove through the Rocky Mountains and in his words, �the high-performance engine is happiest when she's running at over 3,000 rpms�.
Living at sea level in North Carolina, I immediately set out to find a mechanic experienced and qualified to make necessary adjustments with the carburetor, since Emma was used to living at 8,000 feet above sea level. Tom Nelson at TJ�s Auto in Smithfield, North Carolina (www. tjauto-), has lovingly madeadjustments to Emma and although she doesn�t like to idle alone, (due to the high-performance cam modification), she warms up in about 10 minutes and is ready to roll.
Tom has restored many antique and foreign classic cars; he would be happy to answer any questions you may have about this model. In addition, Uncle Fred kept meticulous maintenance and repair records for review. The body was painted a warm beige and is actually �Ford Truck White�, the chrome is in very good condition. A brown soft top is manually operated and a full zippered tonneau cover snaps in place perfectly. My husband and I enjoyed our rides in the country but now it's time to part with Emma. needed a full restoration. Underwent significant refurbishment in 2001 with new top and new seat foam as well as numerous other items done at that time. I have all records including original BOS and mileage statements as well as all service records/inspections and BMIHT certificate as well.
Lecarra steering wheel. New Vredstein Sport Classic tires in March 2023 on 60 spoke chrome wheels with spare. All fluids changed in March 2023, steering box lubed, shocks topped up. Negative ground, alternator, LED lights, Hella Vision Plus Halogen headlamps. Finned aluminum valve cover, high torque gear reduction starter, electronic ignition, electronic SU fuel pump, spin on oil filter. New in 2020
OEM SU HD8 carburetors. Stainless steel exhaust, painted black. New brake pads in 2021 with new brake hoses throughout at that time. Paint is excellent with a couple of minor chips.
This car is a delight to drive, wonderful on country roads, very stable on the highway at 75 mph or more. Doesn�t sit too high in the rear, doesn�t bottom out over speed bumps. purchase This 1970 MG Midget has been refurbished during previous ownership and was acquired in July 2020. Subsequent work included installing a replacement 1,275cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in white over black upholstery.
Equipment includes a black soft top, aftermarket 13? alloy wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, and Mazda Miata-sourced seats. Additional service carried out during current ownership has included overhauling the carburetors, starter motor, alternator, distributor, front dampers, and speedometer. said to have been repainted under prior ownership. Features include a replacement black soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, three windshield wipers, a bullet-style side mirror, MG-branded rear splash guards, and a single exhaust outlet.
Exterior flaws are noted and include paint chips and wear on bright finishes. Aftermarket 13? alloy wheels are finished in black with bright lips and are mounted with 155/80 Milestar Touring SE tires that have been replaced during current ownership. Service performed during current ownership has included replacing the tie rods ends and steering boots, installing a front sway bar, overhauling the front
dampers, and performing an alignment. The cabin has been fitted with Mazda Miata seats that are trimmed in black cloth with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets.
Features include replacement seat belts, front vent windows, manual-crank side windows, and MG Midget-branded door entry guards. Three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel level gauge, and a replacement combination oil pressure and coolant temperature gauge. The speedometer has been overhauled, and the five-digit odometer indicates 42k miles. The replacement 1,275cc inline-four was installed during current ownership and is equipped with dual SU carburetors and an electric cooling fan.
Service performed during current ownership has involved cleaning the radiator and fuel tank in addition to overhauling the carburetors, alternator, and starter motor. The seller states that the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, coolant hoses, thermostat, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor points, condenser, and battery were also replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional work carried out during current ownership included replacing the clutch and the clutch master and slave cylinders.
