This is a Fuji Go-Devil fold up mini bike from the 1960s.
It was made to fold up and go in the trunk of a car or in the back of a small airplane. More details on these bike are on You-Tube, just type in fuji go devil and you will see more of these. This bike runs, it has the original two cycle 50cc motor. Recent maintenance included a new belt,
a new throttle cable, new brake cable, new grips. This is a single speed bike, you pull start it and just give it the gas and go, no shifting gears. I will enter measurements and weight of the machine so anyone who needs to know shipping cost can check with ups or shipper of their choice.
Herter’s c.1970 Hunter Bay Trail Bike On offer here is a fantastic piece of kit.
Herter’s Hunting and Fishing catalog offered this mini-bike for sale to, as the advertising says, “fishermen, beach use, the tundra, trapper and camper” alike. The original Mark I was offered for $199, while subsequent models could be bought for $229, and were sold
“direct – no dealer or jobber profits to pay”. It was powered by a variable speed Tecumseh or Lauson pull-start, 5bhp engine and although it will fit in the trunk of a car, could haul a rider and up to 400 pounds of gear, according to the sales brochure.
Please note, this was not tested. Neither was the brochure’s claim that it “will go anywhere a packhorse will go”. Interestingly, Herter’s also offered imported shrunken heads made from real skin and hair by primitive Peru(vian) Indians ($4.60) as well as a range of famous Hudson Bay all-real-mohair teddy bears. The Mini-bike offered is in great original condition and sports the optional head and tail lamps. Road-registered with a California
title (I kid you not), the only departure from its original specification, is the rather robust sissy-bar, complete with trident tip. The bike runs good and is a blast, drawing a crowd wherever it goes. And colorful comments on the street-legality!
