1948 Harley Davidson EL Panhead This motorcycle was purchased by my father in 1950 before entering the Army for the Korean war.
He rode it to his basic training outside of Washington DC. After the war he rode it back to Indiana where he crashed during his journey home. He left the broken parts in the ditch and drove it home. It was his mainsource of transportation until he ran it low on oil and seized the engine. At that point he removed the engine and started the rebuilding process and lost interest. He coated all of the parts in cosmoline and placed them in a barrel. The bike was kept in one of the sheds on the farm until it was placed in the barn loft where it stayed for many years until October of 2017.
To start the project of putting it back together we gathered all of the parts we could find and started the journey to get it back on the road. The pipes, kick pedal, interior primary case, one gas cap and one grip were missing. The tires, spokes, clutch, primary chain, drive chain and the wiring had to be replaced.The generator, engine and transmission were rebuilt. The EL runs great and we took great care to not alter the look that we saw when it came out of the barn loft. The front fender light is not correct.

The way I found this motorcycle was in quite an abandoned state but with very low mileage showing only 5263 on the odometer making it an ideal platform for restoration. The bike runs fantastic with lots of power, shifts smooth and sounds great. This particular one comes with a new old stock Honda
K1 seat and front and rear fender from my old parts stash as well as many other new old stock and refurbished Honda parts. The exhaust as well as the tank and body panels are new Japanese made direct replacements of the highest quality. The engine underwent a complete disassembly and inspection and subsequent rebuild including all new gaskets exchanged, cam chain and primary tensioner exchanged, cylinder honed with new pistons and rings and head rebuilt with new valve stem seals.
With that and all the usual refinements I give my restorations you are going to end up with a beautiful vintage Japanese motorcycle that feels and rides like you just left the dealership. Ready to be shown off or ridden across the country. Clean title. Bike comes with tool kit and original manual.

Peterson trailer has luggage rack, front rock guard, air shocks to adjust for different loads, tires are in very good condition, has trailer cover. Clean title.

This bike looks and runs great.
It's about 70% or better original parts and better than 90% correct. Motor has been completely rebuilt , matching belly numbers , and is the motor original to the frame. The frame is as good as they come from Harley. Completely unmolested beautiful frame , stamped J6, (10-'56). I dare say the frame is perfect as they get. I have a correct front fender , and a really nice original kicker cover with no repairs done or needed that go with the bike.
