Notes found with this motorcycle show it was purchased from the previous (second? ) owner in San Francisco in 1989. At that time, (odomoter showed 20,242 miles) a full mechanical restoration was performed. This included: ⢠Full disassembly of the motor ⢠Cylindersbored to.020 over standard ⢠Cylinder heads media blasted ⢠Valve seats ground ⢠New valves installed ⢠New.020 over pistons installed ⢠Rod bearings honed ⢠New transmission slider gear and cluster gear installed ⢠New tires ⢠New starter, clutch and brake pedals, new foot boards, new handle bar grips installed.
Upon completion of the work in 1990, the bike was driven a total of 141 miles when it was parked in the owners barn in 1993. It was recently removed and given a thorough inspection. The points were filed, cylinders oiled and new 6 volt battery was hooked up. The bike started on the second kick! It runs smoothly and corroborates the notes that it was rebuilt and has limited use since completion. This is a complete, running, classic Indian Chief. Numbers matching, straight and clean.
