1940 Harley-Davidson EL knucklehead motorcycle for sale.
Matching original 1940 knucklehead cases with nice original VIN. Has original 5 fin cylinders and small port heads, I think one is a '39 and the other is '36/'37. Has on old repair on the left case that looks solid and could be dressed up and probably not noticeable, but thankfully doesnot affect the VIN like so many broken short rib cases had. I have not tried to start the bike and have left it as I found it. Nice looking bike from back in the day, but not all original. Looks like a very nice later 1940s frame that appears to be uncut! I do have an old chrome original beehive taillight housing i'll include with the sale.
Would be a good bike for someone to get an affordable pre-war knucklehead that you can work on as you ride it and find all the correct parts for over the years. Has a rare springer rod stabilizer I was tempted to rob for my other bike.Used 1940 Harley-Davidson Touring 99,999 miles

I bought the Indian Chief from Butch Baer (son of the first Indian dealer) in 2013.
It was converted to 12 volts and restored when I bought it. I bought the bike to ride, so I installed a shift kit to convert it to left-hand shift/right-hand throttle like a modern bike and I added some LED bulbs to make the tail and brake lights brighter. I
have the original parts and will include those in the sale. One photo shows the bike with the original right-hand jockey-shifter installed. It can be converted back in about an hour.
